Week 012 (Oct 13–Oct 19): From Kernel Experiments to Radio Waves

✍ Week’s content, if you missed it

🛠 This Week at the Workbench

  • Spent the week deep in kernel-space experiments — exploring interfaces, tracing methods, and learning how to track function calls. I also dug into the /proc pseudo-file system, which exposes a fascinating view into live kernel data.
  • Finally set up a wireless router in my garage. At home, I use UniFi access points, but for the garage I repurposed an old router as a wireless access point. It’s part of the prep work for wiring a security camera for the garden and garage area.

💡 Things I Learned or Noticed

  • I published my first podcast video on YouTube last week and was surprised by how many people watched it. The quality wasn’t great, but it proved the concept. Now I’m motivated to improve the setup and editing for future episodes.
  • HAM radios and radio technology keep pulling me back. I’m considering getting a HAM radio license — not only to transmit but also to explore SDR (Software-Defined Radio) and study how signals and protocols behave.
  • I also went down a space-tourism rabbit hole and discovered two fascinating projects shaping the future of private space stations: Starlab and Axiom Station.
