Week 004 (Aug 18–Aug 24): Why I Wish I’d Started With CircuitPython

✍ Week’s content, if you missed it

🛠 This Week at the Workbench

  • Set up the new Adafruit Feather board and ran the first example programs. Seeing how easy it is to work with, I couldn’t help but think: I should have started my drone telemetry project with this from the very beginning.
  • Finally installed the networking rack for my home — no more cable chaos, no more routers balanced on random shelves. Everything is now neatly mounted with a proper patch panel. (Photo in the snapshot of the week)
  • Published my troubleshooting framework: a 7-step process designed to help makers push through roadblocks and actually finish their projects. It took a lot of thought to put together, and I hope it proves useful.

💡 Things I Learned or Noticed

  • My wireless debugging setup with the Raspberry Pi used to feel perfect — until CircuitPython forced me back to USB for code uploads. Time to rethink that workflow.
  • After two years, I cracked open a fresh notebook for daily notes. There’s nothing like a clean page to trick you into believing you’ll finally stay organized.
  • Promoting my content is still a mystery. Since I’m not used to social media, I’m experimenting with what to post and how to share without it feeling forced.

🔗 Inspiration & Resources

  • CBC On Design I watched this week — a brilliant miniseries on how ideas become timeless products.
  • 3D-Printed Motorcycle- fascinating to see two of my passions combined.

🚀 What’s Next

Next week I’ll move from Blinky apps to wiring in my first sensor — let’s see if I can pull together a working system.
