Week 008 (Sep 15–Sep 21): Inspired by My Grandfather’s Typewriter

✍ Week’s content, if you missed it

🛠 This Week at the Workbench

  • Explored an idea for Season 2 of the podcast: designing and building a modern typewriter. Inspired by my grandfather’s machine (see snapshot below), I started imagining what a 21st-century version could look like.
  • No progress on the telemetry project this week — but last week’s success gave me the headspace to explore fresh ideas without pressure.
  • Experimented with my Parrot Mambo Drone, programming simple autonomous flight patterns using the PyParrot Python library.

💡 Things I Learned or Noticed

  • Social media and marketing are still tough for me. Crafting posts and engaging with an audience doesn’t come naturally, and I’m figuring out how to make it part of my process.
  • While exploring the typewriter idea, I dove into how inkjet and dot-matrix printers work — surprisingly complex technology for something so common.
  • Looked into how payment providers and creator platforms restrict certain types of content. It was eye-opening to see how much is censored, and it made me wonder: who gets to decide what’s “normal”?

📸 Snapshot of the Week

🔗 Inspiration & Resources

  • Fireship — entertaining software news and sharp development tutorials.
  • Poetry — a super handy tool for Python packaging and dependency management.

🚀 What’s Next

Next week I’ll be deciding on the new project for Season 2 of the podcast. Stay tuned!
